Philosophy statement
I have been a teacher for 6 years now, which is not very long. However, I have been an educator really since I was in 4th grade because I am the oldest of four. I taught my little brother, little sister, and twin brother math, reading, and many other things since we were little. I remember very clearly being forced to teach my sister how to do middle school math when she was going into 2nd grade because my dad accidentally printed the wrong summer packet. However, she learned it because when she made mistakes and I asked her why she thought her answers were wrong. She led her towards the right answer.
In my experience we learn more from our mistakes than our victories. I always tell my kids that I love to lose in chess. This way, I can learn new moves and how I lost. Science, math, history, reading, engineering and technology is everywhere in our world. If we are willing to accept failure and learn from it, we can be learners for life. |
Students need to accept that failure is needed in order to learn.” Below is a reflection and research after a year of virtual learning. |
