Learner DifferencesEveryone has different strengths and lean towards different roles in teams. Students also lean towards different subjects and topics. As a teacher, identifying these preferences and student interests to help support student learning is critical to effective teaching.

Learning EnvironmentsRecently due to COVID-19, MCPS has moved to online schooling where I use Google Classroom. I prefer the use of Google classroom because it is easily accessible, understandable, and runs very well on almost all devices. Many of my students only have tablets and uploading videos through Youtube attached to Google Classroom, I know my students will be able to watch it without error messages.
After a full year of Virtual Learning, I have converted to teaching on Canvas. Canvas is like Android devices as Google classroom is to Apple devices. Apple is more user friendly for all people, while Canvas is much more adaptable and adjustable based on whatever the user wants. So as a Android user I personally prefer Canvas, but I still appreciate the simplicity of Google Classroom. Learner DevelopmentI believe instilling a growth mindset is essential for teachers. Students need to learn that we learn from failure and we should not be ashamed of failing or be scared of the possibility of failing. In order to improve, we need to realize where the improvements need to be made.
Application of ContentStudents always ask, "why are we learning this?" So I always respond with we are training our brains to think logically, creatively, and effectively. However, during my lessons I tend show students when the topic we are learning could be applied to the real world or when concepts from one subject align with another subject or topic they learned previously. Sometimes, I even flip the question on the student and ask how they think they could use what they are learning in the real world.
